Address Book-to-HTML Converter for Eudora v1.70
-----------------------------------------------
What it Does
------------
The Address Book-to-HTML Converter (NN2HTM for short) will convert
Eudora's Address Book files to HTML format for posting on-line or
viewing/printing with a Web browser. Since Eudora's Address Books are
formatted text files you could use a text editor or word processor to
view and print the files, but if you have notes and addresses in your
Address Book, the result may not be easily readable.
NN2HTM reads an Address Book and creates a Web page with columns in
the following format:
+---------------------+-----------------------+---------------------+
| | Name | |
| Nickname | Address | Notes |
| Email Address(es) | Phone | |
| | Fax | |
+---------------------+-----------------------+---------------------+
Organizations that use Eudora and would like to publish Address Books on
their Intranet could find this utility useful. Just update your Address
Book(s) in Eudora and run NN2HTM to create a Web page, ready for posting
to a Web server.
Requirements
------------
* Eudora 1.5x or above. It may also work with version 1.44.
* Windows 95 or Windows NT
* Visual Basic 5.0 Runtime DLL (msvbvm50.dll)
* Microsoft Common Dialog ActiveX Control (comdlg32.ocx)
Installation
------------
1. Copy NN2HTM.EXE to a directory. You can put it in your
Eudora directory or you can create a directory just for the program.
2. Copy MSVBVM50.DLL and COMDLG32.OCX to your Windows\System directory.
If you already have a copies there you can skip this step. DO NOT
OVERWRITE EXISTING FILES WITH THE FILES INCLUDED WITH THIS SOFTWARE. You
can check the version numbers of all relevant files to determine if you
wish to replace them with newer versions. Just right-click on the file
in windows Explorer and view it's properties.
3. Create a shortcut for NN2HTM if desired.
Using the Program
-----------------
When the program is first started, the name of Eudora's default address
book is automatically inserted. If Eudora was installed in a different
directory or this isn't the Address Book you want to convert, just
browse and find the desired Address Book, then click the Convert button
or press [Enter].
The program will read the Address Book and display the number of
Nicknames converted. the display is updated after every 5th conversion,
so if our Address Book is small it may finish too fast to update the
screen with the conversion count while it's running.
When done, the total number of Nicknames converted will be displayed,
along with the name of the resulting HTML file. Just press the "View"
button to view the HTML file using your web browser.
When you close the program it will save the name of the Address Books
you converted so that when you start it again the name of the last
Address Book you converted will be displayed. Other converted Address
Books will be listed in the drop-down box.
The size of the printed page depends on the width of your browser
window. If the information runs off the right side of the page, try
changing the width of your browser window.
Changes From Version 1.64
-------------------------
* Added Alphabetical Index with links to return to the top of the page.
* Added Name to email address links so that the recipient's name will
appear in outgoing email messages.
Limitations
-----------
* Files edited outside Eudora sometimes cause NN2HTM to fail. If
you edit your Address Book with a text editor, open and save it from
within Eudora to ensure it's saved in Eudora's format.
* Nicknames with a large number of addresses *may* cause NN2HTM to
fail. It have used 150 addresses per Nickname without problems.
* NN2HTM will not convert nicknames with multiple addresses into
links. The addresses will be listed one per line, but will not be
displayed as links.
